I APPLIED TO MANY SIGNING COMPANIES TO GET EXPIERENCE FOR LOAN SIGNINGS. I HAVE OVER 200 SIGNINGS I HAVE THE EXPERIEBCE BUT GETTING TO WORK FOR TITLE COMPANIES IS TOUGH WHEN YOU HAVE SO MANY SIGNING COMPANIES OUT THERE.BUSINESS HAS BEEN SLOW BUT I AM HANGING IN THERE WHEN BUSINESS PICKS UP AGAIN.
I'm glad your sticking with it. Diversify into other areas - Network with & drop your info at every bank, savings & loan, credit union, Dr office, attorney offices, hospitals, convelescent hospitals, car dealers of all sizes, etc. I've always called those my "bread & butter" appts. They always have the need! Don't give up. I'm working on other projects too. Need to do that now.
For the little notary stuff I get is from word of month on this little mountain. For loan signings most of them have come from a company called ATM, my most recent was from a company called Notary on the Run. They were pretty good and they paid very quickly (sad to say that was back in August though - my last loan signing). I keep telling myself that I'm going to stop by the title companies and banks, etc. in Porterville but I almost always have my boys with me (not very professional to take them along) or I'm running through town trying to get to a 4H meeting and am dressed in jeans and boots. One of these days I'll get my act together and just go do it.
The industry is changing temporarily because of the market - many notaries are not renewing and moving on to other things. Half of the battle is just showing up and really meeting the people that will give us work and in a "unique" way than everybody else. Try to make as many network "events" in your town to meet other people. It really works! I know you guys will do well. You have the desire & drive to stick with it! and not give up!
Oh heavens, if I was going to give up I would have done it when I left the attorney's office and decided I could do this notary stuff on my own!! I definately learned a ton more after I left the attorney's office, he didn't want me to know anything other than what he needed my notary services for, and he is a notary, albeit one with some questionable ethics.
So Jan - when do you have events scheduled for Bakersfield again?
I haven't scheduled anything yet. I'm thinking after the holidays - unless we tie it to the holidays. So many people stop everything after Thanksgiving till Jan 1st. Then after the 1st with New Year Resolutions - they come out of the woodwork wanting to improve their business.
What do you think???
I will give my opinion on a few good services that I have done signings for over that past few years. That pay in a descent time and their fees are negotiable.
Negretes Notary Services, Watermark Services, Notary Direct, Nations Signature Closers.
Websites I pay to be on are Notary Depot, Notary Rotary, and Notary Bay. My favorite recently is FREE and it is active rain. I get several calls per month from someone that finds me on Active Rain.
You can find great local Lancaster, California real estate information on Localism.com Maureen Lazar is a proud member of the ActiveRain Real Estate Network, a free online community to help real estate professionals grow their business.
I also agree with Jan that there are more and more Notaries that are not renewing their commissions because I have had several people tell me that they contacted a few Notaries before they reached me and they will say that their phone was not in service or they were no longer a Commissioned.
I would just like to see if anyone knows of where I could start to break in on a siging anywhere?
Please let me if any just to do a tag a long, just to watch, If it is possible.
Blessings,
Vicky Ann Nieto
