Notary Regional Networking & Marketing

How do you know if an email from a supposed signing service is legit or not? I've been receiving emails from various companies wanting me to sign up on their network, directory, etc., but I just don't know if it's worth it or if it's a legit company. Honestly when I typo's in the text I get leary. If you don't have time to proof read your materials before you send out a bunch of emails then how can I trust you to give my name/number to someone that needs it and not sell it or give it to a scam artist?

Sure hope I caught my typo's!!!!

Hey Natalie!
I do have the pictures on my camera - I just haven't had time to load them here. Our site is being revamped (yea!) so I don't know how to do that myself. There's always so many things to do huh?
You are so right about the MILLIONS of signing service/listings/directory etc. We have no clue who these guys are and they want all of our info. I get leary too. The ones that I feel more comfy with are the ones that I have known for years. California Mobile Notary Association, Notary Rotary, etc. The others could be up, snitch everything than be gone!
I'm going to be creating the Kern County Notary Network - so invite away any other notaries in the area. Maybe we can get something really going down there!!!

Big hugs!

Three ways to determine if incoming emails are legit:

(1) Legit correspondence is addressed to you only, showing your correct email address and/or name
(2) the subject ine and main text do not have obvious typos, extra characters intead of correct letters. When a email is sent with funny characters in the subject line or text it is attempting to by spam spam filters.
(3) if the email simply has a short one or two line message, inviting you to be added to their directory and all you get is a sign up link - it is definitely spam. After you sign uop on one, you can see an increase in your junk mail.

There are numerous new legtimate directory-type onine businesses starting everyday. Before adding your information to any new directory, check out their web site. Who else is listed there? Are they your peers or compeitors? Are their potential clients listed? If there are contact links to the already listed members, contact them and ask them about the benefits of the directory. If no contact links for members are available, contact the organization through their contact link and ask them for more information.

Wishing you continued success

What I do is then go on line to a search engine such as Google or Yahoo, I then type in lets say Palmdale, ca notary or a key word you associate with your business. The first page that shows up I then decide which ones I will appear on. If it is free I will sign upon all that meet my needs, if not free I will see what ranking they are on that engine. They may say that they are ranked top on Google, but do a search yourself and see where they come up ranked at.

I like Notary Rotary and California Mobile Notary Assoc. They've been around a long time and very stable. It's a job just keeping up with all of the sites!
